Used transformer steel ( high-frequency sheets) for export from Russia We work together in Russia with a company which is engaged in the general overhaul and modernization of power distribution networks with voltages of up to 750 kV. The metallurgical analysis is performed by the I.P. Bardin Central Research Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy in Moscow. An example of an analysis report (in English translation) is included below. In this case, the size of the lot was 107 metric tons. The two grades of transformer steel (silicon electrical steel) currently available are: Gray steel (CRGO) Varnished steel A list of current prices by piece size is included below. It is important to note that in the case of gray steel, only one size may be loaded in a single container, while for varnished steel, multiple sizes may be combined in a single container. High-frequency sheets (silicon electrical steel) - Electrical insulation layer: carlite (gray) or varnish layer - Sheet thickness: from 0.3 mm to 0.7 mm - Sheet sizes: ranging between 0.3 mē and 4mē - note that there are holes in the sheets The available quantity is 1,500 metric tons per year. Here likewise a metallurgical analysis will be provided for each offered lot. A total of between 25 and 27.5 metric tons of steel is normally loaded into each standard 20-foot container.
